Most of the time it's so easy to forget that:

• we're animals
• we're made of chemicals that are made of tiny atoms that are made of tinier particles
• we're creatures on the thin rocky surface of a big ball, hot inside, covered mostly by water
• we're in a vast emptiness, circling around a huge glowing-hot ball, inside a far vaster emptiness with only a few specks in it
• everything started billions of years ago and has billions of years still to go
• there are lots other living animals besides us that have their own goals and desires
• there are living plants that the animals all depend on
• things change over centuries and millennia and longer, sometimes slowly and sometimes abruptly
• not everybody thinks like we do
• most of us don't think deeply most of the time
• resources are not equally distributed, and many of us don't have much
• we're all going to die
• some of us are sometimes mean and angry and selfish
• some of us are sometimes awesomely loving and kind and wise
